New 2008-09 School Calendar Released

ALLEN, Texas ─ The 2008-2009 School Year Calendar is now available for download through www.allenisd.org.
The school year will begin on Monday, August 25 and a student holiday on September 1. Thanksgiving vacation will run from November 24-28 and winter vacation will extend from December 22 to January 2. Spring vacation is set for March 16-20 and the last day of school will be June 4.
The Allen ISD Board of Trustees approved the 2008-2009 school year calendar in November.
State regulations now require that all Texas schools start their year no earlier than the fourth Monday of August. The Allen ISD Calendar Committee studied options this fall to implement the new regulations. They also held public meetings and received input through emails.
