Over 80 Allen ISD Employees Honored For Excellence

ALLEN, Texas ─ Allen ISD honored over 80 employees during the first week in May, presenting Bright Idea, Rookie of the Year, Bell Ringer and Teacher of the Year awards.
The 2008 recipients of the annual Bright Idea Awards included Michael Bell, Allen High School; Brent Goerner, Allen ISD Technology Department; Barbara Myer and Moira Variamas, Allen ISD Learner Services; Shelley Privett, Rountree Elementary; Nancy Rouse, Allen ISD Technology Department; and Sheri Vasinda, Story Elementary. This award is presented each year for employees who have created innovative projects and ideas that benefit the school district.
Curtis Middle School seventh grade science teacher Mona Abdelkarim was named the 2007-08Rookie of the Year.
The Bell Ringer Awards were presented to 54 staff members. This award is presented to employees who are recognized by their peers as going above and beyond their normal job responsibilities. Vaughan Elementary School’s Kelli Abohosh and the Ford Middle School’s Donna Laster were selected and recognized as the 2007-08 Allen ISD Teachers of the Year.The teachers were chosen as Allen ISD’s elementary and secondary teachers of the year from 19 campus teachers of the year.
