ALLEN, Texas ─ Allen ISD Superintendent of Schools Dr. Ken Helvey has been named one of the 2008 “21 for the 21st Century” by Inside Collin County Business.
“21 for the 21st Century” is a recognition program for community service to encourage continuous development in the dynamic growth of Collin County. Inside Collin County Business has recognized this group for 12 years. Honorees represent all four corners of the county from community volunteers and elected officials to civic leaders and educators.
“The publishers of Inside Collin County Business wanted to recognize these individuals who have given their time, talent and treasure to the community,” said Angie Black, executive vice president of the company. “We also want to encourage others to begin a journey as servant leaders.”
Dr. Helvey served as Allen ISD Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services for Allen ISD for five years. He previously held positions of Director of Finance and Technology with Graham ISD and assistant principal at Graham High School and also Graham Junior High School. He held the post of athletic director and head football coach at S&S Consolidate ISD in Sadler, Texas from 1992-1995. He began his career as a vocational agriculture teacher in Anna, Texas and also taught in Celina and Denison from 1983-1988.
Dr. Helvey is also involved with the Rotary Club and the Allen ISD Service Committee. He is married to wife Sheena and has four daughters.
