1 Rating / 0 Comments

Collin County Committee on Aging (CCCoA) had its Third Annual Meals & Wheels Golf Tournament Monday, May 19 to benefit Meals on Wheels and Collin County public transportation (CCART). Reliant Home Health, the presenting sponsor had three teams play including owner John Boaz. Additionally 16 national guards were sponsored to attend and play in the tournament. The men were ushered in by the presenting of colors accompanied by bagpiper, Don Shannon to kick off the tournament. Don Shannon has been piping for over 35 years, has appeared on ABC's Good Morning America and performs annually at the nationally televised Byron Nelson Golf Classic.

Mark Heidenheimer, CCCoA's Chairman of the Board welcomed the players. Mr. Heidenheimer is an attorney and serves on numerous civic boards. Many Collin County cities came out in support of the agency including Mayor Dorman of Melissa and Councilman Jeff McGregor of Allen.

The tournament was a wonderful success and assisted in the mission of the agency in combating isolation and promoting the health, dignity and independence of those 60 years or older through meals, education for their caregivers and a transit system for all citizens.
