MESQUITE RESIDENT TURNS 104 AND RECEIVES KEY TO THE CITY
(Mesquite, Texas) – Mayor John Monaco presented Mary Pinkston the key to the city Wednesday, May 28 on the occasion of her 104 birthday. The presentation was part of a celebration held at EvansSeniorCenter in Ms. Pinkston’s honor.
Ms. Pinkston is a long time volunteer with the City of Mesquite, and continues to lend a helping hand where she can. She is a volunteer at EvansSeniorCenter and a center participant. She completed 104 volunteer hours in 2006; 59 in 2007; and 9 hours so far this year.
She was born in 1904 and the mayor said, “Interestingly enough, Dr. Seuss was also born that same year. It must be where Mary gets her youthful spirit. It is also that enduring spirit which has made her such a notable part of our community.”
In addition to receiving the key to the city, Ms. Pinkston also received letters of recognition from Congressman Jeb Hensarling and State Senator Bob Deuell.
