Voted Best Theater Arts Venue by neighborsgo readers, Rockwall Community Playhouse is beginning its fourteenth year as a non-profit performing arts organization.
RCP will present six spectacular plays this season, for a total of 48 performances. They are My Fair Lady; The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe; Barefoot in the Park; Kiss Me Kate; Arsenic and Old Lace; and Get Smart. A season subscription guarantees theater-goers seats, and provides a 25% discount.
RCP president Gary Freedman reminds residents that the RCP Playbill is serious advertising and a bargain for advertisers. “This season our ads will be seen by approximately 4,000 audience members. Ad space is available in all sizes and prices, and you can provide your own camera-ready copy or we will design an ad for you for a small fee,” he said. RCP celebrates the arts by hosting seniors and underserved community members at various performances. RCP is also sponsoring eight different workshops for youth, where more than 100 students will participate in performances, theater classes and summer camps.
The RCP Capital Campaign will raise more than two million dollars for a new facility on Airport Road, just a few blocks from the current location at 609 E. Rusk. This new facility will enhance the theater experience for the audience, allow for larger casts and more elaborate scenery.
“The theater will become a larger presence in the Rockwall area, creating new opportunities for businesses and restaurants to serve the theater-going public,” said Freedman. “RCP is a jewel that the Rockwall community can point to with pride. Now it's your turn to play a part in our most important production ever, the new Rockwall Community Playhouse.”
