Life is full of unexpected surprises, and sometimes unexpected nightmares.
In those times, Irving residents can turn to Irving Cares. The charity’s mission statement says, “…[D]edicated to providing residents with temporary assistance and training to promote self-sufficiency.”
In everyday words, that means the winner of the neighborsgo Choice Award for Best Charity 2008 is a place that, for 50 years, has been helping Irving residents get back on solid ground and working toward a brighter future.
“Irving Cares takes pride in providing programs that are not a handout but a hand up in serving over 25,000 Irving residents in need over the past year,” said Irving Cares executive director Teddie Story.
That’s 25,000 people who got help paying their TXU bills or received groceries and other assistance. None of us would know much about the good happening here if it weren’t for Leigh Eitson and Story posting the news on neighborsgo.com.
Everybody knows that summer is here and the electricity bills are starting that steady and unwavering climb to the higher reaches of our budgets. But Irving Cares is helping out thanks to the post at neighborsgo.com/stories/16115.
“Irving is home to many great organizations that work hard to meet the needs of our community, and we are very pleased the readers chose Irving Cares as the Best Charity in the 2008 neighborsgo Choice Award contest,” Story said.
