When you step into Anthony’s Flowers Etc. in Coppell, you’re greeted with scents of various assortments of flowers. The impressive bouquets you see in the store window explain without words why the business won the 2008 Neighbors Choice Award for Best Florist.

Owner Patty Arrendondo said her business began as “a crazy idea.” She took designing classes and happened to know the previous owner. Arrendondo has been with Anthony’s for one year now.

“Valentine’s Day is the most busy; it drove me crazy,” she said. “This Valentine’s Day we had around 250 deliveries.”

Currently, there are three employees at Anthony’s but during Valentine’s season there were 10 drivers, three designers and three additional people helping out.

Each Monday, Anthony’s Flowers gets a new shipment of flowers from three different wholesalers. On top of receiving its regular shipments, the shop also gets special requests from customers who come in the store.

“A lot of customers will bring us a vase and tell us an amount they would like to pay,” Arrendondo said. “Then we fill it up with an arrangement.”

In addition to flowers and flower bouquets, Anthony’s Flowers also specializes in gift baskets, gourmet baskets, balloon bouquets, wedding and funeral services, homecoming mums and wreaths —and it delivers.

“Charles Charlepon is our designer,” Arrendondo said. “He comes in and designs three days a week and fills up our cooler [with fresh arrangements].”

Anthony’s Flowers is located at 150 S. Denton Tap Road, No. 106. The business serves Coppell, Valley Ranch, Irving, Grapevine, Las Colinas, Lewisville and Flower Mound. It is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
