Friday June 13th, Boy Scout Troop 707 (you know, those Lake Highlands FLAG guys), with an assist from BS Troop 890, performed Color Guard duties at the grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony of the Dallas Public Library’s NorthPark endeavor, Bookmarks. Mayor Tom Leppert and Councilman Jerry Allen were also on hand to greet the crowd.
Geared toward kids 12 and younger, this first children’s library to be located in a shopping center features learning stations, laptops with Wi-Fi, cool art on the walls and regularly scheduled programs and performances. And a five thousand item collection, more then enough for summer reading. As reported by Troop 707 Leader Pete Puckett, ‘It’s a great little space with nooks and crannies that the kids will love’.
Bookmarks at NorthPark is located at 8687 North Central Expressway, Suite 1514, on Level One between NorthCourt and Center Park. For more information, call 214 670-1170, email childrens@dallaslibrary.org, or visit the site, www.dallaslibrary.org/northpark.htm.
