Vivian Field Middle School, 13551 Dennis Road, Farmers Branch, hosted the 302nd Military Police Company Deployment Ceremony on Friday, June 27. One hundred and eighty soldiers in the 302nd Military Police Company deployed for their second tour in Iraq in Operation Iraqi Freedom. The 302nd Military Police Company is based out of Grand Prairie. The Company will serve a 12-month tour in Iraq. This is their second tour in Iraq. The first tour was in 2003-2004. The Company will serve as a combat support unit.

During the Deployment Ceremony, assistant superintendent for student, family and community services, Dr. Charles Cole, addressed the soldiers offering them support and encouragement during their mission as well as thanking them for their sacrifice to our children and our country. Dr. Cole also extended his gratitude to the families of the soldiers for their sacrifice and commitment to our nation.

One of the soldiers being deployed is a staff member at Vivian Field Middle School. " I want the soldiers and families to know that our thoughts and prayers are with them. One of our own will be deployed and my heart goes out to him and his family during this time. I am so grateful to our military for their service to our country and for protecting us and our children everyday," expressed Dr. Cole.
