July 10, 2008 (McKinney, TX) - The Cowgirls of Faith is hosting a women’s retreat, “Cowgirls of Faith Round-Up,” at Myers Park and Event Center July 11-12. Event organizers already have 600 women registered for the event and are expecting up to 1,000 to attend.
“Women are coming from all over the state as well as the bordering states – Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana,” said event organizer Jodie Calkins. “This event is really about changing lives.”
Featured performers include Susie Luchsinger, award-winning performer and co-host of RFD TV’s “Cowboy Church” live in concert and the comedy of Be Mary2, aka Mary Miller & Maribeth Nottingham. An Ultimate Cowgirl Competition will feature 10 of the top Texas horsewomen facing off in the arena.
Other activities at the Cowgirls of Faith Round-Up include:
• Shopping Cowgirl Style – jewelry, handbags, boots, clothing, candles, home décor and more!
• Praise and worship with Cross Trails Cowboy Church Band
• Filming for RFD TV’s program “Cowboy Church”
• Bent Bucket Ministries
All proceeds from Cowgirls of Faith Round Up benefit Feedlot Ministries Inc., a non-profit organization reaching out to rural families in Texas when disaster strikes or the unexpected happens. Christmas 2007 began an inaugural event – The 12 Days of Christmas Food Drive. Twelve families who otherwise would not have had a Christmas celebration were given not only food but also personal items and gifts.
Feedlot Ministries strives to feed families with fresh fruit, vegetables and meats. The primary outreach for Feedlot Ministries is through Cowboy Churches in Texas, but access to resources is available to anyone in need of food. The goal for Christmas 2008 is to go into 12 Texas towns and feed hundreds of families from a chuckwagon.
Cowgirls of Faith is an organization founded by women for women. COF has several chapters in Texas, ministering to women from all walks of life and focusing on women in western culture.
The event begins Friday, July 11, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, July 12, at 10 a.m. Tickets are $55.00 person and are available online at www.feedlotministries.org or by calling 903-491-1289.
