The August meeting of the Rockwall Ministerial Alliance will be held on Wednesday, August 27 at noon at First Christian Church, 3375 Ridge Rd. in Rockwall. Guest speaker is Paul Bowles, D.Min., Faith-Based Coordinator for our eight-county area of the Twogether In Texas program. Dr. Bowles is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist practicing in Dallas.

Dr. Bowles will explain a new law going into effect September 1, called Twogether in Texas. All the county court clerks are under this new law. They have doubled the price of a wedding license from $30 to $60, but if you will take 8 hours of relationship training, including communication skills, conflict resolution and the integrity of marriage, you get a free wedding license.

Churches that have qualified to meet curriculum requirements can issue a certificate for the training. You take the certificate to the county court clerk and you will get a free wedding license, plus you don’t have a 72-hour waiting period. All ministers are invited. Please pick up a brown bag lunch on your way. Drinks are provided. Come to the meeting to learn more about this law and how churches can qualify themselves.
