Liberty High School’s REDHAWK BAND - Kicks-Off Their 2008 Marching Season

0 Ratings / 0 Comments
Liberty High School’s REDHAWK BAND kicks-off their 2008 marching season with a show entitled, “Rainspell”.  This show depicts the changing seasons of Africa from the dry to rainy seasons.  Music performed on the field includes pieces by composers, Robert W. Smith, John Barry, and the rock band, Toto.  Also included is an indigenous drum feature from the West African country of Ghana.

“I am very excited about this season!  It is going to be one to remember for years to come.” States Alyson Keller, director of bands at Liberty High School (LHS).  “This year LHS has moved up to a 4A-Varsity classification and the REDHAWK BAND has grown to over 140 band and colorguard members.  With 60 of the band members being freshman this year, there is a lot of new talent on the field.  I am looking forward to working with our upperclassman leaders to help these new members realize their potential and put on a great performance.”

In addition to the new student faces, the REDHAWK BAND welcomes two new assistant directors, Mr. Dimitrios Icossipentarhos and Mr. Jason Gonzalez.  Mr. Icossipentarhos is a graduate from TexasTechUniversity and most recently served as Associate Director of Bands at McCowanMiddle School in DeSoto.  Mr. Gonzalez is a graduate of the University of North Texas and most recently served as Associate Director of Bands at SouthwestHigh School in San Antonio.

The REDHAWK BAND is under the direction of Alyson Keller, Dimitrios Icossipentarhos, Jason Gonzalez, and Christopher Meadows.
