With rising gas costs and back-to-school expenses looming, Oncor will host a free workshop, “60 Energy Savers in 60 Minutes,” on Thursday, Aug. 28 from 6 – 7 p.m. at the Home Depot in McKinney.

The event will educate community members in 60 ways they can improve their homes’ energy efficiency. The session will include a family workshop and adult scavenger hunt modeled after the game show “Supermarket Sweep.” Adults will compete in a 10-minute competition to fill their shopping cart with as many energy-saving products as possible to win gas cards and home improvement store gift cards. 

Thursday’s event will be led by area efficiency experts and local service provider Everett Alexander, owner of “Texas Energy Solutions.” The workshop is an extension of Oncor’s Take A Load Off, Texas Tour which has educated more than 3,000 Texans on energy efficiency since March 2008.
