Coffee Drinks Compared to Business Leadership Styles
Author of R.A!R.A! A Meeting Wizard's Approach andLewisville resident, Shirley Fine Lee thought is would be interesting to compare leadership styles to popular coffee drinks. With this idea in mind, she contacted her local coffee shop and talked with a professional barista. The barista Debi Calhoun, who is majoring in journalism, found the idea interesting and offered to help Shirley with coffee details for the comparison portion of her research.
Shirley Lee‘s thoughts about her research were, “I found the coffee explanations both helpful and interesting. Debi really knows her stuff. For the first time, I felt like I understood some of the world of gourmet coffee and why so many people are willing to spend more than a couple of dollars on a cup. I also think I may have developed a taste for an iced version that I tried and really liked.”
Debi shared her vast knowledge of coffee so Shirley could match the flavors to her list of leadership characteristics. Shirley recorded her comparison of the coffee and leadership styles in an on-line article called “Leadership Style in a Coffee Cup.” Then Shirley recorded her thoughts and experiences from her research on the business productivity and leadership blog at http://2bproductive.blogspot.com. The post is titled “What flavor is your leadership style?” The blog post includes questions for business leaders to ask themselves and a link to the on-line article so the blog followers can read the leadership styles resulting from the research.
