The LH Wildcat Band achieved a fourth place Division 1 finish at the 2008 Lone Star Classic drumline competition held November 15 at Lewisville’s Goldsmith Stadium. Coming off of last year’s 2nd place finish in Division 2, percussion director Jimmy LaBrecque challenged his group this year by entering them into the top division’s competition, which included 22 of the area’s top high school drumlines.
This year’s show, “Let ‘Em Know”, was an arrangement by Mr. LaBrecque based on the full marching band’s halftime show. Even though marching competition ended in late October, dedicated drumlines across the area practiced well into November to compete in this prestigious annual event. In addition to LH's overall fourth place finish, junior Jordan Brooks made LH proud by earning first place honors in the multi-tenor solo competition, performing the arrangement “Everlasting” which he composed himself.
