Our Redeemer Boy Scout Has "Got Popcorn"!

1 Rating / 0 Comments

For Our Redeemer Lutheran School 6th grader and Boy Scout,  Joseph Raymond, the work didn't stop once the Scout popcorn was sold!  Joseph entered the "Trails End Best Popcorn Pix" contest, along with 1400 others across North America.  Joseph's photo was selected as one of the 100 best, and will be featured on the website and possibly as one of the 30 photos on next year's popcorn tins. He will also receive a prize: a Nintendo DS-Lite!

Joseph is was a member of Pack 731 at Our Redeemer Lutheran School and is now serving as the Pack's Den Chief with Boy Scout troupe 218.  Scoutmaster David Demarest, AIA said "Joseph, is a very creative young man and also won the "Most Creative" award at Winter Camp with his skit.  The Scouting program offers a safe environment for boys to develop their creativity.  Baden-Powell, the Founder of Scouting, believed in encouraging the creativity of young men by providing a structured outdoor program...a game with a purpose.  Troop 718 carries on this tradition."

Troop 718 is sponsored by the Lovers Lane United Methodist Church Men and meets Sunday afternoons at 3:00 PM at the Church. Visit their website: www.troop718.org for more information.
