Boy Scouts’ recognized for outstanding service

On March 30, 2009 Circle Ten Council held its annual dinner at the Plano Centre. Each year Circle Ten Council invites volunteers to attend this dinner to hear about the success of the Scouting program. In 2008 Circle Ten Council had many successes to celebrate. Including a 2.1 percent traditional membership growth, becoming #1 in the nation in popcorn sales reaching the $4.34 million mark, and 829 Scouts achieving the rank of Eagle.

All of these successes are supported by volunteers who work directly with the Scouting program. Circle Ten recognized 23 outstanding volunteers by presenting them the Silver Beaver Award. The Silver Beaver Award is the council-level distinguished service award of the Boy Scouts of America and is the highest award that can be bestowed upon a volunteer by a council. Recipients of this award are registered adult leaders who have made an impact on the lives of youth through service given to the council. These volunteers implement the Scouting program and perform community service through hard work, self sacrifice, dedication, and many years of service. The award is given each year to volunteers who do not actively seek it. Each recipient is listed below with a brief overview of his Scouting history.
