Swine Flu In Mexico City: Flu Shots

1 Rating / 2 Comments

Mexico City, MEXICO:  It seems like the whole world is watching Mexico at the moment and being that I live in Mexico City, the power base for the Republic of Mexico I am seeing lots of swine flu prevent activities.  Like no mass in the churches, all national chain restuarants like VIP's and Sanborns are closed.  It seems weird to pass these places and not see people.  BUT it is not just the restuarants that are closed -- so are the movie houses, all museums, pool halls and cantinas!  All schools and universities are also closed at least until May 6, 2009.

I got on the subway, El Metro, this afternoon and the trains were almost empty, I was able to get a seat for my first time.  Then I rode the big double bus, the Metrobus, it was also almost empty, empty seats every where - so surreal. Why am I even using public transportation?  Because I cannot drive my car on Tuesdays; it is a pollution prevention thing.

It has been recommend that people avoid crowds and use a facemask.  Well the problem in wearing a facemask is that all the places that sell them sold out.  Then the Mexican miltary started to give them away.

If one is going to stay healthy and wear one of those hot and humid facemasks, why not have a little fun with it. Here are pictures of three guys having fun with wearing a hot and humid facemask.
