On Sunday, the luck did not change as he again qualified 4th and again went off in Turn 1 and he had to fight his way back to 11th for the final. The good news is he was finally on the inside and would have a chance to see what he could do in the competitive field. His goal was to come out in the top 10 after the first turn and then see how far he could get up in the field. He did not disappoint as he came out of turn 1 in 8th place and by the end of the race, landed a podium spot finishing 3rd and turning the 3rd fastest lap times of the day. He made some incredible passes and closed huge gaps on other racers. Cole's teammate, Devlin DeFrancesco also had a strong showing finishing 1st on Saturday and 2nd on Sunday.
A special thanks to DeFrancesco Racing / Alonso Kart USA for the support and the crew of Andy DeFrancesco and Dave Tennyson (Team Owners), Bobby Wilson (Crew Chief), Ben Cruttenden (Co Manager / Engineer) and Doug Sharp (Engine Builder / Tuner). The race also put Cole only 8 points out of the SWRC Regional Series lead.
Cole will be traveling to New Castle, Indiana next week with the Alonso Kart USA Team to prepare for the next Champion Karting International National Race at the end of the month.
Cole is sponsored by Alonso Kart USA which is owned by DeFrancesco Racing, Frozen Fire Films, Glasson Racing, MMS Race Engines, The Kart Shop, Kart Racing Solutions, Polar Graphics, Moonshadow Auto Salon and Tyler Web Design.
