Repertory Company Theatre was chosen by our readers as the winner of this year’s Neighbor’s Choice award as “Best Family Outing” for the <i>neighborsgo<i> edition covering Richardson and Far North Dallas.
“It is always an honor to be complimented in such a way by our community,” said Debra Carter, artistic director. “We work hard at what we do. It’s nice to be appreciated.”
We invited her to tell our readers more about the 22-year-old company.
Why do you think RCT was named as a Choice award winner?We try to represent the likes and needs of the community we serve … with professional main stage shows [and] our award-winning school of musical theater for youth, which has year-round programming.
What do you think this award says about the theater group?
It shows how hard we work to serve our community – from our 63-member company of actors to our directors, designers, teachers, choreographers, artists and musicians [to our] 350-plus students.
Why do you view this award as worthwhile?
It is important for any business to know, as much as possible, about how customers view it. We want to know if we are getting it right.
What is the most important thing for our readers to know about RCT?We pride ourselves on the high quality of our shows, from Broadway musicals to classic plays. Since we moved into our new Promenade Theatre three years ago, our season-ticket subscriptions have doubled.
What advice would you offer to others who aspire to be a Choice winner?Know your audience. They tell us we are on the right track.
