Making friends out of customers

BY KENDALL KIRKHAM

Seven years ago, mother of two Cheryl Calvin opened The Store in Lake Highlands to keep her busy while her kids were at school.

It started as a simple clothing boutique, and then Calvin started adding more and more items.

Now, The Store is the go-to place for an array of products, including Vera Bradley bags; jewelry; decorative crosses; initial-branded items; Tyler candles; baby, wedding and graduate gifts; and much more.

The merchandise brings a wide range of prices and customers, so there is something for every shopper — from teenager to grandparent — on any budget.

Concentrating on a family atmosphere, Calvin said the customers become your friends.

The biggest compliment Calvin ever received was when a girl came in and said, “I got five things; they are all different and I love them all.”
