Best Sushi in Mesquite: Kamikaze Restaurant

Kamikaze in Mesquite has been around for four years and hopes to continue to introduce the community to what Japanese food is all about.

Last year, they moved across the freeway from their original location to expand their restaurant to offer hibachi.

“We are the first restaurant in Mesquite to bring this atmosphere,” said manager Ryan Lee. “We are educating people on what Japanese food really is.”

Kamikaze prides itself in having fresh ingredients made from scratch, including the sauces. Another upside to the fresh food is the price.

Every item on the appetizer menu is $2.95; the lunch menu starts at $5.95; and the dinner menu starts at $9.95. All come with miso soup, salad and steamed or fried rice.

Lee said you can eat at Kamikaze for the same price as you would at Chili’s.

Kamikaze also prides itself in not only high-quality food at a lower price, but also on their service.

“We train [servers] well,” said Lee. “They are very attentive.”

Lee also said if someone comes in who has never tried sushi and is skeptical, they will let the customer try salmon sushi on the house. He said it’s a great introduction to sushi, because it’s not fishy-tasting at all — and it has opened many customers’ minds to try other things.

Now that the restaurant offers hibachi, customers can choose the atmosphere they want to experience when they come in. The hibachi side is a show — it’s fun, interactive and family-oriented. The sushi side has a lower key, quiet and romantic mood. Customers can also sit at the sushi bar and watch the chef at work in front of their eyes.
