The colorful halls of Stonewall Jackson Elementary were full
of excited first-time and returning students on Monday, August 24, 2009 as
parents brought their children in for the first day of school.
After drop-off, new parents were invited to the cafeteria
for “New Parents’ Coffee” where the PTA President Kelly Newman welcomed
everyone and briefly introduced the school and all the extracurricular
offerings at Stonewall. The PTA Board, Dad’s Club, After School, and the
Stonewall Garden were all present at the gathering, and parents could ask
questions, sign up to volunteer for any of the upcoming events this school
year, and also purchase Stonewall spirit shirts.
The Stonewall Jackson Principal (DISD Principal of the year
2005-2006), Mrs. Olivia Henderson, welcomed all her students, staff and parents
by visiting each classroom and letting everyone know what an exciting year we
have ahead of us at Stonewall!
Welcome (back) to Stonewall Jackson Elementary!
Stonewall Jackson Elementary, a recognized and exemplary school in the
Dallas Independent School District (DISD) is an essential part of the community
in East Dallas. The endeavor for academic excellence, diversity of cultures,
and integration of the Dallas Regional Day School for the Deaf are all contributing
factors to the uniqueness of Stonewall. Our mission is to educate and inspire
each child in a nurturing, learning environment that recognizes the necessity
of a partnership between educators, parents and students for optimal
intellectual, social and creative growth.
The Stonewall Jackson Elementary PTA consists of parents, teachers and
community members who are dedicated to making Stonewall a great place for
students to be nurtured and to learn. Our mission is to generate incremental
funding for our school’s educational services to ensure that our children
