OVER 28,000 PRESCHOOLERS TOOK A TRIP AROUND THE WORLD IN JUST ONE DAYStudents “Celebrated Cultures” as they paraded in ethnic attire and tasted a variety of food
Carrollton, Texas – Preschoolers at Primrose School of Castle Hills, dressed in silk gowns and saris and toting paper fans, ukuleles and wooden clogs, joined hands on Thursday, September 24, 2009 to symbolize the unity of children worldwide. They joined 28,000 children from more than 200 Primrose Schools across the nation who also participated in the Celebrating Cultures event in their own cities.
The students sang “It’s a Small World,” sampled ethnic food from around the world and performed traditional song and dance from the students’ various cultural backgrounds as they sought to embrace the things that make each of them unique in their own special way. Marking the end of a month-long program dedicated to celebrating cultures, the preschoolers learned about diversity, their heritage and the importance of acceptance of others despite cultural differences. Students at the Primrose School of Castle Hills also enjoyed multi cultural dishes for lunch prepared by their chef, Carlos Amaro and enjoyed a special interactive show by “Dance On Tour” in which the students learned an African dance and an Irish jig.
“Children who learn to truly appreciate other’s differences, share in their cultural traditions and learn these values at an early age develop into caring, generous adults who love their community and respect others,” said Tom Chow, franchise owner. “Celebrating Cultures is just one of many programs designed to help children develop active minds, healthy bodies and happy hearts – and to love who they are and respect others’ differences.”
Celebrating cultures is part of Primrose Schools’ Balanced Learning® program, offered exclusively to our families at Primrose. The accredited program includes character building components that teach children the importance of helping others and being involved in the community.
