SpringPark Women's Club tours new Cowboy Stadium

0 Ratings / 0 Comments
What a grand adventure the SpringPark Women’s Club (plus husbands, friends and guests) had on October l4, enjoying a private tour of the new Dallas Cowboy Stadium in Arlington.  Everyone was awed by the beauty of the structure.  It was over the top!  Bigger and better than we even expected.  Vietta Prater, our Dallas Cowboy tour guide, gave us a wonderful 2 hour fact filled tour of the property; from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m   We learned that the Cowboys stadium is the largest NFL stadium.  The stadium’s roof, 660,800 sq. ft., is one of the largest domed sports structures in the world.  It soars 292 ft. about the playing field, with two monumental arches that support the retractable roof, the world’s longest single-span roof structure.  Designed to be open or closed, depending on weather conditions, the expansive retractable roof is the largest of its kind.   Each panel can open or close in 12 minutes.

The stadium features the largest retractable end zone doors in the world.  Each has a five-leaf, clear, retractable opening measuring 120’ high by 180' wide.    The five 38-ft. panels take only 18 minutes to open or close.  By using clear glass for the door panels, spectators experience panoramic view from within the seating bowl.

The 3 million sq. foot stadium has an approximate capacity of up to 100,000 fans.  The new stadium (opening up officially in 2009) boasts the most spectacular column-free room in the world, stretching a quarter-mile in length.   The stadium is designed to allow every fan a great view of the action – whether in the general admission seats or luxury suites.  The venue also offers a wide range of other fan functions including party platforms, exterior plazas, a variety of concourses, suits and clubs, the Cowboy Hall of Fame, a pro shop and numerous food options

Within the seating bowl, Cowboys fans are provided a one-of-a-kind feature, a center-hung video board.  Hanging approximately 90 feet above the field from the roof structure, the video center spans between the 20-yard lines and feature 4 individual boards.  All four boards are angled toward the stands for optimal viewing.   The video board weighs l.2 million pounds and the video screens span 25,670 sq. ft.  The overall weight of the video board structure is more than 3.5 percent of the total roof weight.  The only accessto the video board is via one of two motorized platforms.

We toured a private luxury suite.  The suite amenities include access to exclusive clubs, premium suite parking, and extraordinary space with a depth of over 40 ft., private restrooms and superior interior finish outs.  We also toured the Pro Shop, Scoreboard Central Room, the Player Interview Room, and lastly the Cowboy Locker Room.

The November SPWC meeting will be at the SpringPark Club, November 11 at 10 a.m  and the topic will be "Wellness".
