The rain stayed away yesterday to yield a gorgeous day for the Sachse Swingsters 1st Annual Golf Tournament.
Swingsters and their parents arrived at Firewheel Golf Course a little after 6:00am on October 24th to begin setting up for their first fundraising golf tournament. It was a very crisp, cold morning but it quickly warmed after the sun rose. The Swingsters lined the sidewalk to help direct players to the Tournament Pavillion for registration and also posed for pictures with each team after they registered. The Swingsters' parents worked at the registration tables, selling VIP passes and other various duties along the course.
After the golfers finished playing the course, lunch was served in the pavillion. Everyone stopped to watch the Helicopter Ball Drop as two helicopters dropped around 1,500 numbered golf balls onto the course where the closest numbered ball to the pin won $1,000. Following the ball drop, Swingsters director Brittany Shaver announced all of the door prize winners and silent auction winners.
Thanks to the generousity of all the players who participated in the tournament and to all the businesses who donated various prizes for the tournament, the Swingsters were able to raise close to $12,000 to help pay for their costumes, props and choreography for their upcoming contest season.
