Saint Paul the Apostle Catholic School in Richardson hosted their First Annual Homecoming Football Game on Wednesday, October 28. Hundreds of fans decked out in green and gold turned out to watch their Packers face off against the boys from Saint Thomas. Saint Thomas edged out Saint Paul 14-6 with a 4th quarter touchdown, ending Saint Paul’s season with a 3-3 Division Record in the Dallas Parochial League.
Saint Paul offered a full afternoon of festivities for their students that culminated with the game. After school activities held before the game for the students included Field Goal Contests and 40-Yard Dash Races. The Varsity Cheerleaders provided Face Painting to help everyone show their true Packer Spirit. The boys in the 3rd-6th grade competed in flag football games prior to the main event, showing a lot of promise for future Packers teams. The event was so successful that it is sure to become a staple event of future football seasons at the school.
"When we first started planning the event, I had a vision for the afternoon,” said Lynn Corey, a mother of four St. Paul students, and a Homecoming Volunteer. “With all of the help of the volunteers, teachers, and parents, the reality was better than what I even imagined.”
