Five Cub Scouts from Pack 19 at Lovers Lane Church took a shift ringing the bell for the Salvation Army Red Kettle campaign on Saturday at the Walgreens at Northwest Highway and Marsh Lane in Dallas.
The boys offered a reward to those who donated: a song, a gift, a joke or advice.
Donors chose either a clean song, "Jingle Bells" or a naughty song, "Dashing through the snow, on a pair of broken skiis." If they chose a gift, thee got a candy candy or a hand-made book mark. The joke they told was, "What does a snowman eat for breakfast?" Answer: Frosted Flakes. And the advice was, "If at first you don't succeed, don't got skydiving."
The boys counted approximately 85 people making donations made during their two hour shift in front of the store.
