At 28, Justin Muller is already living the life of a seasoned Hollywood studio executive — only he’s not in California.
Muller is the director of The Studios of Las Colinas and president of his own production company, Muller Entertainment.
The Irving studios are home to the new ABC show The Deep End, set to premiere Jan. 21.
My name is: Justin Kurtis Muller
My occupation: Studio president for Muller Entertainment, The Studios at Las Colinas managing director
I have lived in Irving/Las Colinas since: 2002
The best part about living here is: Las Colinas and its 12,000-acre master-planned business and residential community near the center of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. Living and working in the community is great.
Other cities in which I’ve lived: Fowler, Ind.; Grapevine; Southlake; Idyllwild, Calif.; Palm Springs, Calif.; Bedford; Las Colinas — Irving
My college alma mater: Idyllwild School of Music and the Arts
My thoughts on The Deep End: It’s a new, fresh show about associates competing to stay afloat in a shark-infested law firm. It’s filled with suspense, craziness and drama.
Past shows/productions I’ve been involved with: Barney & Friends (2002); Saving Jessica Lynch (2003); Eric Clapton: Sessions for Robert J (2004); Ley del silencio, La (2004-05); La Academia USA (2005); A House Divided (2006); Prison Break: Seasons 2 and 3 (2006-08)
Best/worst part about my job: Best: All the people you get to meet; Worst: The long hours.
Favorite vacation and why: It was a work trip to the Dominican Republic to tour the country to see about expanding its film industry. I don’t get to take normal vacation time running the largest studio in the state.
Pets: None at home. However, we do have salt water fish in my executive office area, as well as a studio dog named Chloe. She sometimes even helps greet guest in the lobby.
If I could visit one place before I die, it would be: Taj Mahal in India because it’s grand, organized and over the top just like my personality.
Favorite area restaurant/dish: Pappas Bros. Steak House / Steaks
My greatest accomplishment (so far): Running this studio — taking it to whole new level. It’s been no easy task upgrading this facility and improving its overall. I’ve been able to carry out my vision and make it a reality.
Hobbies: Trains. I have always liked trains since I was young and enjoy miniature trains you can really ride on.
I am passionate about: Helping people achieve their goals in life.
On a typical Friday night, you might find me: On Friday nights I slip into the Melrose Hotel in Dallas. The Melrose is home to The Library Bar, an English pub-style piano bar.
My closest friends would describe me as: A workaholic and that I love what I do.
Something people might be surprised to learn about me: I know how to tap dance and have taken classes for about 13 years.
Favorite movie: Singin’ in the Rain
Favorite TV Show: Monk and The Deep End
The actor who should play me in a movie: I’d play myself.
