St. Paul the Apostle Catholic School Hosts Grandparents Day

Saint Paul the Apostle Catholic School in Richardson celebrated Catholic Schools Week by hosting Grandparents Day on Friday, February 5. The students sent personal invitations to their grandparents inviting them to spend the morning at the school. Over 200 grandparents were able to take part in this special event.
“We are so lucky to have a school like St Paul that promotes not only Reading and Writing, but also the connection between children and their Grandparents”, said Ann Marie Orscheln, a former St. Paul student and current St. Paul parent. “The multi-generational bond is a valuable gift.”
Grandparents began the morning by attending the school’s Friday morning Mass with their grandchildren. Following the service, parent volunteers served a delicious pancake and egg breakfast that was graciously prepared and donated by IHOP and Starbucks. The students then welcomed their grandparents to their classrooms for activities specially planned for the day.
“Grandparents are a very important part of a family”, said Susan Covert, a St. Paul grandparent. “I think that it is a marvelous idea to have an event that gives us the opportunity to visit our grandchildren’s school. We were very impressed with the school and the faculty.”
Carol Regeci, the Principal of St. Paul, agrees. “I thought Grandparents Day was a huge success! I know our guests felt they were a vital part of the Saint Paul community.”
Saint Paul the Apostle Catholic School educates children from pre-kindergarten through the eighth grade and is located at 720 S. Floyd Road in Richardson. Applications for the 2010-2011 school year are available by request.
