Six cute girls dressing in traditional red Chinese TangZhuang were one of the highlights in AsiaFest 2010 on 5/1, which drew record crowed of 9,500 this year. They performed dance "Fengyang Flower Drum" presenting the audience with original Chinese folk dance on pavilion stage of Haggard Park in Plano. Even though it was till the end of 6-hour wonderful performances from China, India, Vietnam, Korea and other Asian cultures, they still drew a big crowed sitting or standing around watching them perform and gave them a huge round of applause.
Five of these girls, Alice, Emily, Katherine, Annie, Kendra, were from Mathews Elementary in Plano ISD. They perform every year in muliticulture night in Mathews with original Chinese folk dances. Their talents were found by one of the organizer in AsiaFest 2010 and included in the annual event promoting Chinese Culture. These good friends invited their best friend Hope from Riddle Elementary in FISD to join the dance this time, who became a great addition to help the dance look more symmetrical, more favorable by the Chinese people. Apart from dancing, they also joined 30 kids in the Asia Fashion Show for AsiaFest.
These girl not only are talented in dance but also talented in singing, piano, gymnastics, ice skating, art. They performed in major local concerts, regional competitions and their artwork were put on local newspapers too.
