See How the Garden Grows

3 Ratings / 8 Comments

Sunflowers are in full bloom and cucumbers, tomatoes and pumpkins are abundant in the Withers Elementary School Garden - thanks to the efforts of parent volunteers.

Throughout the summer, families of Withers Elementary have taken shifts to water the school's garden.   Parents bring their children with them, and spend some time watering the flowers and vegetable gardens, encouraging a fruitful harvest in the hot summer days.

Summer is the best time to reap the benefits of the labor that was put-forth in the Spring.  The Withers Elementary Garden is the result of grant monies from Lowe's, North Dallas Early Childhood PTA, and REAL School Gardens.  In January of this year, the Withers Community gathered in numbers to install a working garden for the children at the school.  The garden is a supplemental learning tool for teachers in math, science and art.
