10 Coppell band students make All-Region Orchestra

1 Rating / 1 Comment

Ten Coppell High School Band students earned spots in the Region 20 All-Region Orchestra recently and participated in a clinic and concert Nov. 11-12 at Molina High School in Dallas.

About 500 band students from 43 high schools in Region 20 auditioned for a possible 23 spots in the Region Orchestra tryouts.

Students making orchestra were: Neha Dubey, flute; Benson Huang, B-flat clarinet; Harini Suresh, oboe; Nina Jang and Daniel Markbreiter, bassoon; Haley Greenia, french horn; Brandon White and Kayla Boyer, trumpet; Parker Mason, tuba and Max Ginnell, percussion.

"The orchestra is very difficult to be selected for," said head CHS band director Scott Mason. "We sometimes have over 40 tubas try out for only one chair in the orchestra."

In addition, six students earned area chairs during this audition, promoting them forward in the All-State Band selection process. They include: Jang, Markbreiter, White, Boyer Mason and trumpet Jonathan Bolton.

This is the second year for Suresh, White, Greenia and Ginnell to make the All-Region Orchestra.
