Plano Youth Leadership (PYL) is now accepting applications for its 2008-2009 (Class XIV) leadership program.  Students who are currently enrolled in the 9^th grade and planning to enter the 10^th grade during the 2008-2009 school year are eligible to apply if they reside in the area serviced by the Plano Independent School District (PISD), whether attending public school (PISD or non-PISD), private school or home school. 

The purpose of PYL is to train students in leadership techniques and community awareness to prepare them to make a positive impact on the quality of life in the Plano community.  Through a series of monthly class sessions, which run concurrently with the school year, students develop the confidence and knowledge they need to succeed in leadership positions while learning about service opportunities around the community. According to PYL board president, Ann Boswell, “Our program gives students the unique opportunity to meet with city officials and work with other local education and business leaders to develop their individual leadership skills.”  PYL Class X alumni Jack Wang added, “PYL provides invaluable resources that help each participant grow and develop, not only as a student and a leader, but also as a person.”
